Description

Figure carved from wood for tourist sale. It was worked in the style of the well-known stone figures (moai) on Easter Island. The head appears oversized and is fully sculptured compared to the cylindrical body. In addition to the prominent cheekbones, the dominant nose with its concave shape clearly stands out. The chin appears a little advanced and the lips are thin and closed. The ears appear elongated. The head has a horizontal termination at the lower end. From the proportionally much smaller body extend the two indicated arms, which end in slender hands with recognizable fingers. At the same level is a loincloth. Directly below, the figure ends with a broad base.
