Description

The adze with traditional haft has a wooden curved handle and a rope of plant fibers that connect the shaft to the shell blade. Before 1800, hatchets were the most commonly used tools in daily life by men in Palau. Traditionally, different types of shell and blade shapes were used for different purposes, but not as weapons.
